Got a default on your credit file? Lodge it with Default Gone right here, or call us on (02) 5502 7025. $399 flat per consumer per default. We do not guarantee removal — outcomes depend on the facts of each case — but we will prepare and lodge the dispute properly.

The $399 flat fee structure

The Default Gone pricing model is built around transparency. When you engage Default Gone to challenge a default, you pay $399 upfront for that specific default listing. This fee covers:

  • Initial assessment and information gathering
  • Document preparation and dispute lodgement
  • Communication with credit providers and credit reporting bodies
  • Response tracking and follow-up
  • Outcome explanation in plain English
  • Any required escalation within the statutory process

What the fee covers

The $399 fee covers the work Default Gone performs on your behalf. This includes preparing the dispute documentation, lodging it with the appropriate parties, tracking the response through the statutory 30-day period, and explaining the outcome.

If the credit provider or credit reporting body requires additional information or documentation during the process, that follow-up work is included in the original fee. There are no additional charges for reasonable requests or standard process steps.

What the fee doesn’t undertaking

The fee covers the work performed, not the outcome. Default Gone does not undertaking that a default will be removed. Some defaults are valid and correctly listed. Others may have issues that make them open to challenge. The outcome depends on the specific facts, documents and response from the credit provider or credit reporting body.

Per consumer, per default pricing

The pricing structure is designed to be clear about what you are paying for. Each default listing requires its own dispute process, and each consumer on a joint default needs their own separate challenge.

Individual defaults

If you have one default on your credit file, the cost is $399. If you have three defaults from different credit providers, challenging all three would cost $1,197 ($399 × 3). Each default requires its own assessment, documentation and dispute process.

Joint defaults

Joint defaults appear on multiple credit files. If you and a partner have a joint default from a shared loan or credit account, it appears on both credit files. Challenging a joint default requires separate processes for each person, so the cost would be $798 ($399 × 2 consumers).

This reflects the fact that each consumer’s credit file is their own, and the dispute process must be lodged separately for each person, even when the underlying debt is the same.

Multiple defaults from the same creditor

If you have multiple defaults from the same credit provider, each one still requires its own dispute process. A telco provider might list three separate defaults for three different billing periods. Each would be challenged separately at $399 each.

No stage fees or success fees

Many credit dispute services charge in stages or take a percentage of the result. Default Gone does not use either model.

No stage fees

Some services charge an initial fee to start the process, then additional fees as the dispute progresses. Default Gone charges the full $399 upfront and does not add stage fees later.

No success fees

Some services charge a percentage of the “value” if a default is removed, or add bonus fees for successful outcomes. Default Gone does not charge success fees. The $399 covers the work regardless of whether the default is removed, corrected or upheld.

No surprise invoices

The $399 fee is the total cost for standard default disputes. There are no additional charges for phone calls, document requests, follow-up communication or outcome reporting.

Payment timing and process

Default Gone requires payment of the $399 fee before commencing work on a default dispute. This upfront payment model ensures the service can dedicate resources to preparing and lodging the dispute without payment delays affecting the statutory timeframes.

Payment methods

Payment can be made by credit card, debit card or bank transfer. The pricing page provides current payment options and any available payment plans.

Refund policy

Because Default Gone begins work immediately after payment to meet statutory timeframes, refunds are generally not available once the dispute process has commenced. The terms of service outline the specific refund policy and any exceptions.

How this compares to other pricing models

Credit dispute services use various pricing structures. Understanding the differences helps you compare the true cost.

Percentage-based pricing

Some services charge a percentage of the “value” of the default or the loan amount. For a $5,000 default at 20%, this would cost $1,000. For a $20,000 default, it would cost $4,000. Default Gone’s flat fee means the cost is the same regardless of the default amount.

Staged pricing

Other services might charge $200 to start, then $300 if they need to escalate, then $500 for a successful outcome. These staged fees can add up to more than Default Gone’s single $399 charge, and they create uncertainty about the total cost.

Monthly subscription models

Some credit monitoring or repair services charge monthly fees for ongoing work. For a single default dispute, these can become expensive over time, especially if the process takes several months.

Court judgement pricing

Court judgements are handled differently from standard defaults. They may require a consultants-led review and, where appropriate, a separate legal pathway such as seeking to set aside, correct, satisfy or update the judgement. These matters are quoted separately based on the complexity and legal requirements.

The standard $399 flat fee applies to defaults listed by credit providers, not to court judgements which require different expertise and processes.

What to check before engaging any service

  • Total cost transparency: What is the maximum you could pay, including all possible fees?
  • undertaking policy: What exactly is sought, and what happens if the outcome is not what you expected?
  • Payment timing: When do you pay, and are there refund options if you change your mind?
  • Scope of work: What specific steps are included in the fee?
  • Additional costs: Are there charges for phone calls, documents, or follow-up work?
  • flat fee structure: Do you pay more if the default is removed?
  • Multiple default pricing: How much would it cost to challenge several defaults?

Understanding value beyond just price

While price is important, the value of a credit dispute service includes factors beyond the fee structure.

Process quality

The quality of the dispute preparation, the completeness of the documentation, and the thoroughness of the initial assessment affect the likelihood of a meaningful response from credit providers.

Response handling

How the service handles responses from credit providers, tracks statutory timeframes, and explains outcomes in plain English affects your understanding of what happened and what options remain.

Transparency throughout

Regular updates, clear explanations of next steps, and honest communication about likely outcomes help you make informed decisions about your credit file.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the fee $399 and not a percentage of the default amount?

The work required to dispute a default is the same whether the default is for $500 or $50,000. The assessment, documentation, lodgement and follow-up process takes the same effort regardless of the dollar amount. A flat fee reflects the actual work performed rather than the size of the debt.

Do I pay more if I have multiple defaults?

Yes, each default requires its own dispute process and costs $399. If you have three defaults, the total cost would be $1,197. Each default needs separate assessment and documentation because they may have different grounds for dispute.

What happens if the default is not removed?

You do not pay additional fees if the default is upheld. The $399 covers the work performed regardless of the outcome. Some defaults are valid and correctly listed, while others may have issues that make them open to challenge. The fee covers the dispute process, not a sought result.

Are there payment plans available?

Payment options and any available payment plans are outlined on the pricing page. The full fee is required before commencing work to ensure resources can be dedicated to meeting statutory timeframes.

How does joint default pricing work?

Joint defaults appear on multiple credit files and require separate dispute processes for each person. For a couple with a joint default, the cost would be $798 ($399 × 2 consumers). Each consumer’s credit file is their own, requiring individual dispute lodgements.

What is included in the $399 fee?

The fee covers initial assessment, document preparation, dispute lodgement, communication with credit providers and credit reporting bodies, response tracking, follow-up within the statutory process, and outcome explanation. There are no additional charges for standard process steps.

Do you charge success fees?

No. Default Gone does not charge additional fees if a default is removed or corrected. The $399 flat fee covers the work performed regardless of whether the outcome is removal, correction, or the default being upheld as valid.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

Because work begins immediately after payment to meet statutory timeframes, refunds are generally not available once the dispute process has commenced. The specific refund policy is outlined in the terms of service.
